Loon Creek is a well hidden haven, just past an island off Toad Lake, along the Pickerel River in picturesque Port Loring, Ontario.
When I crave a certain amount of solitude and adventure, I quietly slip into my canoe and paddle up this narrow, winding creek.
The creek is both quiet, yet boldly alive with a vast array of wildlife spotting opportunities. If you paddle quietly, you often have up close (right beside the canoe) sightings, of otters, beaver, deer, herons & more!
On my latest foray into the depths of this wilderness, I was not disappointed. A baby beaver swam right in front of my canoe, and enjoyed a meal from the reeds growing in the creek.
One girls search for truth among the great Canadian Wilderness. A journey of blogging, camping, kayaking, hiking, nature photography & more!
