The trails are carpeted with Dog Tooth Violets, Spring Beauty, Red & White Trillium's as well as the cute Dutch Man's Britches. There is a loud symphony in the forest as songbirds return, and do their best to impress suitable mates. My bird feeder has become a whose who of avian beauties. Though I have had to chase away the unwelcome red squirrels as well as a chubby raccoon intent on draining the feeders daily.
Spring is an awe inspiring event in the forest, mind the blackflies...they don't seem to be biting, but they sure know how to cloud around your head.
This White Tailed Deer Doe evidently was trying to get some respite from the bugs, and was not eager to return to the forest. I was able to get fairly close before she bounded away!
